Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed is a researcher and engineer specializing in artificial intelligence, industrial automation, microelectronics, optimization, and embedded systems, with extensive experience in both academia and industry. He is the recipient of multiple prestigious academic distinctions, including the Academy Dirk Award at the Pakistan Naval Academy. He earned his B.E. in Electronics Engineering from the Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC), NUST, in 2007, graduating with the President's Gold Medal, Rector's Gold Medal, and Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Gold Medal. He later completed a B.E. in Electrical Engineering (Control & Artificial Intelligence) from PNEC, NUST, in 2017, once again receiving the President's Gold Medal. In 2021, he was awarded a Ph.D. from Cranfield University, United Kingdom, with research focused on Microelectronics and Optimization. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he has accumulated over five years of industrial research and development experience, leading and contributing to technology development projects with research funding exceeding PKR 60 million. His work bridges academic research with industrial applications, delivering innovative solutions for intelligent and safety-critical systems. His research and development interests include: • Deep learning for acoustic and image classification • AI-based predictive maintenance • Industrial automation and control systems • Battery monitoring and management systems • Functional safety and safety system design • Hardware security • Integrated circuit design, testing, and validation • Optimization techniques and algorithms • Optronics, including electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) imaging systems He has authored and co-authored several research publications in these areas and continues to pursue interdisciplinary research that integrates artificial intelligence, electronics, and industrial technologies to address real-world engineering challenges.
