Departments Department of Engineering Sciences

Department of Engineering Sciences

The department of engineering sciences has its prime objective of producing highly skilled mechanical engineers with specialisation in three areas namely, Thermal Fluids, Thermal Powers and Computational Statistics. The department is equipped with modern laboratories, research facilities and state of art computer centers. Focused emphasis on practical exposure is also given to mechanical engineers along with theoretical instructional, with the help of qualified faculty and several well equipped laboratories.

The Faculty of Engineering Sciences is headed by Dean Engineering sciences (Dean ES).  He is assisted by three Course Coordinators to look after academics aspects of undergraduate program, post graduate program and Marine Engineering Systems Management Course (MESMC), a specialization for mechanical branch service officers. Moreover, three Group Officers look after various support facilities i.e. Laboratories, CADAM facility and workshops. The department has excellent commitments for teaching and producing graduate Engineers; it has over the years acquired national/international recognition. At present this Engineering Sciences department, besides various professional courses, offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Master’s and PhD level only once in a year.

BE Mechanical Program is accredited up to Intake Batch-2018 under Level-II as per decision of PEC 94th EAB meeting held on December 29, 2019, PEC/EAD/PNEC-K/MECH/Re-Accr/2020

Head of Department Message

Dr Murtaza Hussain

It is my pleasure and honour to welcome you to the Department of Engineering Sciences at Pakistan Navy Engineering College. Mechanical Engineering has been thought of traditionally as a professional discipline, applying principles from engineering, physics in design, analysis, manufacturing of mechanical systems, and the associate transfer and flow of energies from one form to another. Now, it is at the center of almost all technical advancements, from health services to communications, transportations, and all the infrastructures that you see around. The Mechanical Engineers of today are multidisciplinary, with knowledge from other branches of engineering. Department of Mechanical Engineering strives to increase the knowledge, enhance critical thinking, ability to transform information into knowledge and power of analyzing the things technically. We in the Engineering Sciences department are striving to impart knowledge through a closed knit family of highly competent faculty. Our Laboratories have been very well established and equipped to instill motivation in the students to learn beyond the defined boundaries of syllabi thereby enabling students to develop skills amongst the students to become promising engineers in the future. Students in Engineering Sciences are regularly afforded opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities so that they can polish their managerial and teamwork skills. The objective of these activities is to provide an environment for the practical application of classroom teaching. I welcome your interest in our department and wish you a very successful and enjoyable experience with us.
